Hiring Welcome Desk Team Member (PT 20-30 hours/week) primarily for weekend shifts. This position is best suited for cheerful, outgoing, and dynamic individuals who enjoy the gym environment and all of its patrons. The role of a Welcome Desk Team Member is multi-faceted and complex. This customer-focused position includes the majority of tasks required to run the gym on a day-to-day basis. Welcome Desk Team Members are expected to provide excellent service to our diverse group of customers, develop and maintain impactful connections with members, and guide new guests through the basic use of climbing equipment and safety procedures. You'll be the face of Half Moon Bouldering, and we are looking forward to meeting you.

Responsibilities

  • Client interaction and support
  • Explaining and demonstrating correct usage of climbing equipment and the facility
  • Monitoring climbing areas to ensure climbers and spectators adhere to safety procedures
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the climbing area and facility
  • Maintaining member files and waiver forms
  • Performing point-of-sale transactions
  • Building member relationships

Facility Support Staff

Half Moon Bouldering is looking for a Facility Support Staff (PT, around 20 h/week) to help them shine! This position is best suited for a hardworking, dependable individual who enjoys working in the climbing community, connecting with our team and members, and is able to work early/late shifts independently. If you consider yourself a clean freak who inspires a passion for tidiness in others, this job description is for you!

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning, sanitizing, maintaining, and restocking all areas of the gym, from those accessible to guests to areas restricted to staff
  • Maintaining and organizing the storage area, including all cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Performing regular maintenance checks on cleaning equipment and restocking supplies
  • Ensuring proper labeling on cleaning chemical containers and ensuring proper dilution ratios of cleaning chemicals
  • Implementing eco-friendly, sustainable cleaning, maintenance, and thrash removal practices
  • Inspiring the community to minimize their environmental impact
  • Communicating equipment, repairs, or supply needs to management
  • Screening and routing clients’ requests to management to provide timely customer service support
  • Helping HMB team members stay on routine cleaning tasks by implementing daily schedules for cleaning high-traffic areas and high-touch surfaces
  • Performing other duties as requested by management

Requirements

  • Experience in a cleaning/maintenance position strongly recommended
  • Experience in working in the climbing/fitness industry is a plus
  • Strong work ethic
  • Availability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activities, which may include pulling, pushing, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping and repetitive movement; lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn about, develop, and improve HMB’s sustainability practices
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification (preferred, not required)

Climbing Instructor (Adult and Youth Programming)

Climbing Instructors are responsible for supplying a safe and engaging atmosphere for students in our adult and youth classes. This PT position (starting at 2 classes/week) gives you the possibility of growing into other positions at HMB, such as Welcome Desk or Route Maintenance. We are looking for weekday youth instructors and weekend group instructors currently

Responsibilities

  • Arriving in a timely manner and ready to interact positively with your group of students
  • Acting as a role model for the students in the program
  • Describing and demonstrating climbing techniques
  • Engaging with climbers and tailoring instruction to their needs
  • Encouraging students to participate in various climbing related activities and to adopt a mindset of growth and exploration
  • Patiently dealing with challenging behaviors and scenarios, while maintaining a mature, solution-oriented attitude
  • Being creative and focused on problem solving
  • Improving your performance by incorporating feedback from superiors and colleagues into your work routine
  • Giving feedback on the program’s strengths and weaknesses and identifying potential streamlining of processes, where appropriate
  • Working hard and having fun

Requirements

  • At least 1 year climbing experience, knowledge and technical expertise preferred.
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification (preferred, not required)
  • Experience in an instructional setting or with childcare
  • Availability to work weekday evenings and weekends.
  • Maintaining at least 2 classes per week.
  • Current Covid-19 Vaccination
  • Positive attitude
